Mailbox Skipole - ARTIST PROFILE

Mailbox Skipole are a power-pop trio who play catchy songs with a punk edge. Their songs tend to be fast, with infectious melodies and sing-a-long choruses.

However, they have other facets to their sound when required, such as a ska bounce, a penchant for epic tunes, even acoustic, introspective pieces when called for.

Formed at the start of 1997, Mailbox Skipole began to build a local live following through a series of high-energy gigs. As the song-list grew and attendances increased, the band looked to get their music down on record, signing with Stakeout Records to release their debut album "Broadway", which received nationwide critical acclaim, national student radio airplay and healthy sales.

Since then, the band have recorded the follow-up EP, "Lose The Halo" and played over 50 gigs across the North Island, playing with the likes of Breathe and Che Fu. The new EP was released in March 2000, with 1,000 copies given away free at the launch, and since then the band has been looking for radio play and are now in plans for a tour in support of the CD and a first video shoot.
