Bertha Control - ARTIST PROFILE
With a cool X chromosome driven back beat and a frontline more int\imidating than a professional football team, ‘Bertha Control’ take us through a wormhole of infused musical genres to a time when pretension was rare, and pure enjoyment of music still reigned supreme.
This eclectic troupe of femmes has already entered the flux of live rock with a fierce blend of heartfelt lyrical poise and white-knuckle audience electrification. Yul Brunner and Steve McQueen would be lost in the gun smoke of this real life magnificent six; a blaze of beautifully crafted hooks and melodies just a little too hot for a high noon showdown.
But as night falls and the nymphs come out to play, all present are whisked away in a cacophony of churning guitars, high rolling drums, massaging bass, a dash of recorder to enhance the sirenous vocals and a refreshingly aggressive treatment of the triangle, that has to be seen to be believed. All in all, a musical crossroads of energy and an absolute epiphany of splendid eye torture.
The Bertha bunch has performed for crowds of up to 400 and have been resident performers at the Tongue and Groove in Brisbane's West End.
Since birth in Jan 2003, Bertha Control have performed at important events such as International Women’s Day, Reclaim the Night, 2High Festival, Environmental Awareness Week, The Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane Social Forum and have supported other local artists around Queensland.
